Details to clarify before quoting

Use this table as a starting point for a target list. Final availability depends on current inventory, certificate route, and order structure.

Color ranges
Common commercial RFQs use D–G, D–H, E–I, or buyer-defined ranges. D color diamond is the highest color grade — colorless with no detectable tint — and is preferred for premium bridal and certified inventory programs.
Clarity ranges
VVS–SI ranges are common for wholesale programs. Flawless (FL) and internally flawless (IF) diamonds exist but are less common in commercial wholesale — most bridal programs use VVS1–VS1 for an excellent balance of appearance and availability.
Flawless diamond pricing
Flawless and internally flawless lab-grown diamonds are rarer and priced higher than VS–VVS grades. Most wholesale buyers target VVS2–VS1 clarity for certified inventory because the visual difference to the naked eye is negligible while availability is significantly better.
D color diamond buying notes
D color diamonds are the top colorless grade. D–F color is often preferred for white gold and platinum settings. E–F color may offer better value for commercial programs without a visible difference to most buyers.
Parcel notes
Melee and bulk parcels should define acceptable spread instead of a single grade. D–F color melee parcels are common for high-end pavé work; G–J color parcels suit commercial production.

Buying notes

  • Tighter grade ranges (e.g., D–F color, VVS2–VS1 clarity) usually reduce available options and increase price.
  • Flawless (FL) clarity is rare in commercial wholesale — request IF or VVS1 as a practical alternative if availability is a concern.
  • D color diamond availability is better in HPHT production; E–F color may offer wider CVD availability.
  • Certified stones need report route and document expectations — confirm whether a GIA or IGI report is required for D color and flawless stones.
  • Parcel buyers should define spread, not only ideal grade — for melee, specify color range (e.g., D–F or G–J) rather than a single color grade.
